How do I troubleshoot technology?
ISTE nets-c objective 3.e asks teachers to demonstrate the ability to "troubleshoot basic software, hardware, and connectivity problems common in digital learning environments." I have met this objective in a few ways throughout this course, especially with problem software and connectivity. I was lucky not to encounter hardware issues on my computer, but I have run into trouble with my phone.

Software Troubleshooting
While evaluating the game Flight for Freedom, I encountered several operational problems. The game is supposed to run in the browser, but I kept getting error messages and eventually the game just stopped running. Fortunately, there is a downloadable version, and I was able to use that to finish the game. However, once I finished the first game and tried to start a new one, the game again stopped running correctly. When I exited out and restarted, even though I told it to load game 2, instead it loaded game 1 again. |
Hardware Troubleshooting
I have been getting messages on my phone saying I am running out of memory space, preventing me from updating some apps and downloading others, especially games. In the near future, I need to make sure my photos and videos are backed up to a cloud service (most likely Google Photos, since I have an Android device), and then delete them off of my phone. Alternatively, I could buy another SD card to increase my phone's storage. |
